Fall Scents Y’all

Fall Scents Y’all

October 18, 20193 min read

Tis the season for apple picking, hayrides and pumpkins.

Now this used to be the time of year I would get every fall scented candle imaginable to bring the Autumn into my home… My home was filled with what I thought were fresh clean fall scents from pumpkin spice candles to carrot cake to pine…

Until I found out I was actually harming my family..

One of the main problems with scented candles is the scent itself. According to Anne Steinemann, an environmental pollutants expert, certain candles may emit numerous types of potentially hazardous chemicals, such as benzene and toluene. They can cause damage to the brain, lungs, and central nervous system, as well as cause developmental difficulties.

Fragrances are often derived from petroleum that lingers in the air, contributing to poor air quality. The EPA recognizes that fragrances contribute to a host of problems including headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and forgetfulness.

The good news is when you know better, you do better, and we are here to help!

What are essential oils?

They are the most powerful part of the plant—the lifeblood of the plant. They repair and restore the plant when it is attacked or injured. In the human body, they have access to the limbic lobe of the brain—that part of the brain controls heart rate, breathing, memory, hormones, stress levels, and blood pressure. Essential oils are tiny molecules—they hit your cells in 3 seconds when inhaled, and 26 seconds when applied topically.

So see-no worries-no need to crawl into the fetal position because you think your home won’t smell good!

The good news is YL is a full disclosure company that guarantees the purity of the essential oils found in all of its products, reducing toxic exposures in the home. Essential oils cleanse and work with the body to maintain and balance our systems.

Some of our diffusers even have a candle flickering setting so you can still have the candle-lite experience.

There are 3 ways to use essential oils: aromatically, topically, and many are safe for internal use. Today let’s talk about aromatically…

Using essential oils aromatically can be as easy as opening the bottle and taking a sniff…

Our sense of smell is our most primal instinct; when we inhale a certain scent, it passes through our sinuses, olfactory bulb, and into the part of our brain known as the limbic system. Our limbic system is responsible for things like emotion, memory and behavior.

Using pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils is more than just a moment of aromatherapy. It is a way of using the amazing gifts nature has given us to safely and effectively support the body’s natural processes.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to eliminate the toxins that can cause us harm and choose products with additional health benefits?

One of my favorite things to do is to recreate scents in my diffuser…

So if you love pumpkin spice…you can create this aroma with nutmeg, cinnamon bark and clove.

Diffusing essential oils can help your home smell like fall without the toxic chemicals

Citrus oils like orange and lemon provide an uplifting and energizing aroma. Add in some clove and cinnamon and you have the perfect fall fresh scent!

Peace, harmony & essential oils,

Beth
