5 Benefits of CoQ10 Injections

January 21, 20212 min read

Benefits of CoQ10.

Coenzyme Q-10, often referred to as CoQ10, is an enzyme our bodies make that naturally decreases with age. It is an antioxidant and responsible for 95% of the body’s energy production. CoQ10 protects our cells from damage and plays an important part in metabolism. Some of the benefits of CoQ10 may include:

  • Increased energy, stamina, and improved physical performance

  • Improved learning and memory ability

  • Combat inflammation and oxidative stress

  • Support long term brain and heart health

  • Promote overall healthy aging

Additional Causes of CoQ10 Deficiency

  • Nutritional deficiencies

  • Genetic defects in CoQ10 synthesis or utilization

  • Increased demands of tissues because of disease

  • Mitochondrial diseases

  • Oxidative stress due to aging

  • Side effects of statin treatments

Information on CoQ10

Studies have used daily doses of CoQ10 ranging from 50 milligrams (mg) to 1,200 mg in adults. A typical daily dose for someone who has a CoQ10 deficiency is 100-200 mg, while the observed safe level is 1,200 mg per day.

You can get some CoQ10 from dietary sources such as chicken, beef, pork, sardines, spinach, or soybeans. However, the average daily intake is very low. Subnormal serum coenzyme Q10 levels have been observed in patients with advanced heart failure, type 2 Diabetes, neurodegenerative disease (including Parkinson’s Disease, and even certain types of cancers like breast cancer.

Although there is a low toxicity with CoQ10, there are some medications that potentially interact with, or cause reduced effectiveness. Your IM of CNY provider can review and discuss this with you, and make appropriate recommendations for CoQ10 on your wellness plan.

Patients of IM of CNY can discuss with their provider if CoQ10 injections are right for you. You may call (315-741-5774) or use the portal to start the conversation. We have CoQ10 in stock, and have availability for you to schedule (after ordered by your IM of CNY Provider) your CoQ10 injection.
